I am peruvian, living in NYC now and I have to say that Cusco is the place to go in Peru. Lima is another latin american city where lots of places to go and restaurants!!!! If you like seafood you are gonna love it!!! But I would def spend more time in Cusco cause I don’t think you will get to see those landscapes in any other place in the world.
I will just suggest to find a good travel agency for the Cusco package and of course ALWAYS be careful with your cameras and personal belongings because we, tourist, are always targets and we dont want you to get a bad image of our country. I just making a suggestion, I am not saying it’s a dangerous place or anything. We should always be careful when we travel cause we dont know the place (I do it all the time here in New York).
I would recommend you to go to the north if you are looking for some time at the beach, maybe Mancora or Puntal Sal. If you are more a jungle person then Iquitos or Tarapoto. But I wouldnt spend more than 3 days in those places.

Hola. I travelled all over Peru last year and loved it. The only place that was not so nice was Lima, but if you are careful you will be safe. I highly recommend visiting Peru.
